Description
In 1998, David Berman of the Silver Jews walked into Chris Kysor's art studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and laid his eyes on the painting “American Water” for the first time. Chris and David were childhood friends who had grown up together in Dallas. After viewing it for some time, David asked if he could use it for the cover artwork for his new album he was recording nearby at Rare Book Room.
That album, ultimately titled "American Water", is widely considered a timeless classic which showcases David Berman's towering poetic strength juxtaposed with musical magic lead by longtime friend and Pavement member, Stephen Malkmus.
In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the release of "American Water", it is my pleasure to announce the cover art will be released as a limited edition screen print:
